Greetings from above
The spirit it moves me
I’m going where I’ve never been before
Kestrel falls
Mouse never reaches home
She’s going where she’s never been before

The Elfin Knight

The Elfin Knight
Summer it was coming
And the fog of dawn was gone
When she rode out to find the one
that sang that haunting song
Silver was the light upon her hair and on the leaves
Golden was the voice that sang so sweetly through the trees
Are you the one that haunts me when I lay asleep at night
Oh yes my lady I’m the one they call
the Elfin Knight
Seven king’s daughters I killed You’ll be number eight
Than he took his horn and blew away her scarlet plaid
Oh come oh come oh come with me
to the waters of the well
I’ll come if I may blow your horn and you may ring my bell
She undressed the knight and took his sword
To the ground his head it fell
Broke his horn and kissed his lips and lived to tell

The Buckrider
When the fallen snow whispers
Please don’t wake the sun
Please don’t wake the sun
I’ll travel on
When the purple dawn gathers
diamonds in the fields
garlands from the trees
pearls from their leaves
My love, I’m a thief
Hope she won’t wake up at night
to see me walking through the light
of Orion’s belt in foggy air
My skin covered with fur
When the sun’s long red fingers
snap the morningstar
stroke the singing lark
wake the sleeping guard
I’ll hide in the yard
Hope she won’t see me then
the wolf returning to her den
where I hid my gold
into the ground
My love, never to be found
When the fallen snow whispers
Please don’t wake the sun
Please don’t wake the sun

May Morning Dew

May Morning Dew (Traditional)
How pleasant in winter
to sit by the hob
Just listening to the barks
and the howls of the dog
or to walk through the green fields
where wild daisies grew
to pluck the wild flowers
in the May morning dew
When summer is coming
When summer is near
and the trees all green
and the sky bright and clear
and the wee birds all singing
their loved ones to woo
and the young flowers all springing
in the May morning dew
I remember the old folk
all dead now and gone
and likewise my two brothers
young Dennis and John
How we ran on the heather
the wild hare to pursue
and the proud deer we hunted
in the May morning dew

Unlike the Moon

Unlike The Moon
Unlike the moon
Man’s life is never full
before the dark
Like a dragon in it's cave
in long long golden shadows laid
made me half a man
and half a slave
Now there’s a longing
for his place
with time nor space
love without a heart
a smile without a face
and so it goes
half the man finally knows
unlike the moon
man's life is never full
before the dark

Woodlake Ivanhoe
Woodlake Ivanhoe
There ain’t no place I’d rather go
Three rivers flowing to Lake Kaweah, Lemon cove
As I looked at the sky I cried
God I love and the reason why
I’m swinging is to get rid of fear
In the tallest tree so high
Where the woods are like a piece
Of an old forgotten song
Than the words should sound like these
clouds amongst the trees
swaying in the breeze
in the sun
Woodlake Ivanhoe there ain’t no place I’d rather go
Three rivers flowing to Lake Kaweah, Lemon cove
One day I’ll find the words
the most sincere you’ve ever heard
They’ll be simple fresh and sweet
like the singing of the birds
Woodlake Ivanhoe
She says so and he says no
It will end in tears anyway
Says good old Smith Ray
